Sacral Neuromodulation system
Sacral Neuromodulation (SNM) system, commonly known as a bladder pacemaker, is an electrotherapeutic system implanted in vivo for long-term use. It is used for improving the relevant symptoms of patients whose urination and excretion is refractory to conservative treatments. It is feasible to significantly improve symptoms and increase life quality by means of weak electric pulses influencing the sacral nerve and regulating bladder, sphincter and pelvic nerve reflexes, allowing for stable long-term efficacy. It is reported in the literature that the improvement rate of SNM for treating overactive bladder (OAB) is over 50%. As of the end of 2014, more than 170,000 patients have benefited from this therapy.
